Medicines Use Reviews

Have you ever wanted to know more about your medicines?

For instance:

  • How to recognise side effects
  • More about what your medicines do
  • How to use them properly
  • Why you are taking them
  • What to do if you forget to take a dose
  • Should you take them with or after food

Have you thought about asking our pharmacist about these things but assume that he or she is too busy?

Have you ever been prescribed a new medicine and got home not really remembering what the doctor told you?

Half of us are not taking our medicines as prescribed!

The NHS recognises that we do not always get the best out of prescribed medicines and now pays pharmacists to spend time helping them know more about their medicines and how to use them.

What does this involve?

The pharmacist will go through all the medicines patients take (including those bought over the counter) and check that you know what they are for, help with any difficulties you may have in taking them and answer any questions you may have.

Here are some of the questions our pharmacists get asked every day:
  • My tablets are too big to swallow, what can I do?
  • Will I have to take these for the rest of my life?
  • What can I buy for my cold which won't clash with my medicines?
  • Do my new tablets clash with my old ones?

Spend a few minutes in private with our Dean & Smedley pharmacist to help you get the best out of your medicines.
